AGCO has introduced the Fendt 700 Vario series tractor with a new design, engine, and technical updates, including a new powertrain with VarioDrive transmission.
“AGCO has always focused on providing customer-first solutions, and the Fendt 700 Vario series delivers on that promise,” says David Soliday, senior tactical marketing manager for Fendt tractors. “With a combination of key upgrades and new features, these tractors are the perfect combination of strength, agility, functionality, and comfort, making them ideal for everything from haying and livestock work to heavy-duty field or fleet operations.”
The engine, transmission, hydraulics, and cooling systems on the Fendt 700 Vario are all designed for high torque performance at low engine speeds to achieve high traction and acceleration with lower fuel consumption.
The tractors range from 203 to 283 rated engine horsepower, running on the new AGCO Power 7.5 liter engine. The tractors can hit higher horsepower with the Fendt DynamicPerformance which can add up to 20 extra horsepower when needed. The engine typically runs between 900 and 1,700 RPM, according to Daniel Smith, senior strategic marketing manager at Fendt.
The VarioDrive transmission enables the tractor to crawl at 65 feet per hour, or drive at a top speed of 33 miles per hour. This is the latest version of Fendt’s Vario CVT which has all-wheel drive management, and no longer requires manual switching when changing between field and road. It distributes power based on ground conditions, driving the front and rear axles as needed. When making tight turns, the tractor uses a “pull-in-turn” which pulls the machine into a curve allowing for a smaller turn radius.
The Concentric Air System (CAS) cooling concept on the 700 Vario is designed for low engine speeds, small build, and higher fuel efficiency. Less drive power is needed for the CAS, reserved instead for increased traction while driving. The CAS runs on its own hydraulic motor, and is automated according to demand.
The 700 series now allows full use of up to five rear and two front hydraulic remotes. An optional hydraulic pump is available with an increased capacity up to 58 gpm. Like other Fendt products, the hydraulic system is independent from other tractor functions, eliminating the risk of cross contamination.
A number of factory-installed tire options are available, including commonly used row crop, single metric, or dual tire configurations. Additionally, the series is entirely row crop capable with 60-inch gauge settings. Front and rear dual tires are available as well.
The VarioGrip tire pressure regulation system is now an optional feature on the 700 Vario series. Previously available on some of Fendt’s larger machines, the VarioGrip allows farmers to increase or decrease air pressure depending on driving conditions from the tractor display in the cab. Lowering pressure increases contact area with the ground, boosting traction. Increasing pressure when driving on the road provides a better ride and improves tire longevity.
The Fendt Cargo 6.100 front loader is available for the 700 Vario, with a maximum lifting capacity of around 9,000 pounds and maximum height of nearly 16 feet.
The Fendt 700 Vario series of tractors are operated via the multifunction joystick and the 3L joystick in FendtONE. The models are standard equipped with a 10-inch digital dashboard and 12-inch terminal on the armrest, with an optional retractable 12-inch terminal in the headliner available. The tractors use smart functions such as a guidance system, automatic section control and variable rate control — all displayed on the customizable terminal screens.
Six different seat configurations are available. Operators are able to adjust the seat and create a personalized seat profile, which can be changed with one click for different drivers. An optional premium leather seat includes massage, heating, and cooling features.
AGCO is still working out the pricing of the Fendt 700 Vario series tractors. Tractors will hit dealership lots starting sometime midyear in 2023.
All models in this lineup come standard with the Fendt Gold Star Customer Care warranty program. This covers all scheduled maintenance, the cost of oil, filters, belts, and maintenance items during a 36-month/3,000-hour period. Each tractor also comes with five years of Fendt Connect telematics, allowing an operator or their dealer to monitor machine data remotely.
